This Lunch Meeting will be our first education seminar of the 2015-2016 council year.  Reservations are limited to Estate Planning Council members only, on a first come, first served basis.  In addition, guest reservations may be accepted if space is available.

Michael Markhoff, Esq.

Michael Markhoff is a partner in the White Plains law firm of Danziger & Markhoff LLP.  He is a graduate of Columbia College (1987) and Brooklyn Law School (1990) and is listed in Best Lawyers in America - Trusts and Estates and Category and Super Lawyers – Trusts and Estates Category.   Michael was named Trusts and Estates Lawyer of the Year for White Plains, New York for 2016 by Best Lawyers in America.

He is Past President of the Estate Planning Council of Westchester County, Inc. (2007-2008)(where he also served on the Board of Directors from 1998-2001), Past President of the Hudson Valley Estate Planning Council (2012-2013)(where he also serves on the Board of Directors), Past Chairman of the Trusts and Estates Section of the Westchester County Bar Association (1998-2000), Past Director of the Westchester Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals (2001-2005) and Past President of the Northern Westchester Bar Association (2001-2002) and the White Plains Bar Association (2004-2005).  Michael was the Ninth District Delegate to the New York State Bar Association Trusts and Estates Section (2003–2005) as well as a member of its Executive Committee (2000 – 2005).  He also served as the Ninth District Delegate to the House of Delegates of the New York State Bar Association (2005-2008).

Michael has been a member of the Board of Advisors of the Westchester Community Foundation since 2012 and was a member of the Board of Directors of Fox Lane Youth Lacrosse, Inc. from 2013-2015 and was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Bedford Free Library from 2005–2014.

He is also a member of the Westchester County (Sections on Tax and Trusts and Estates), Connecticut (Estates and Probate Section) and American (Sections on Real Property, Probate and Trust Law) Bar Associations as well as the Estate Planning Council of Rockland County, Inc.

Jose A. Reynoso J.D., LL.M. (Taxation)
Managing Director

Jose A. Reynoso is a Managing Director and Partner at Clarfeld. In addition to managing family relationships, Mr. Reynoso leads the Advanced Tax and Estate Planning (ATEP) division and the overall Personal Financial Planning (PFP) practice. Mr. Reynoso manages the process, delivery, policy-making and administration of our sophisticated estate and trust planning and PFP practice. The ATEP division is also charged with integrating best thinking and best ideas at the firm while providing thought leadership across the multi-disciplinary financial, tax and investment planning practice of the firm. Mr. Reynoso serves as Chief Risk Officer for Clarfeld and is on the Executive Committee of the firm.

An attorney and a seasoned financial planning professional, for over 20 years Reynoso has been providing comprehensive financial planning advice to wealthy clients in the U.S. and internationally.

Prior to joining Clarfeld, Mr. Reynoso was a regional director (Team Leader) of a wealth management team at the Bank of New York/Mellon; Vice President in the Global Wealth Structuring group at the Citigroup Private Bank; and a Principal Tax Consultant at Price Waterhouse.

Recognized as an expert in income, gift and estate tax planning, Mr. Reynoso has written for several media outlets and regularly leads seminars to professional groups, business owners and families. Most recently, he has participated in discussions regarding philanthropic planning (see cover of November/December 2013 issue of Private Wealth Magazine) and the use of GRATs, CLATs and sales to grantor trusts as powerful estate planning strategies.

In 2008, Mr. Reynoso was named a Rising Star in Business by The Business Council of Westchester. The list honors Westchester business leaders for their professional accomplishments, leadership qualities and outstanding success – all achieved before the age of 40.

Mr. Reynoso earned a B.S. from Cornell University and a J.D. and an LL.M specializing in taxation from New York University School of Law. He is admitted to practice law in New York and before the US Tax Court. In addition, he is a member of various Bar Associations, a member of the international Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and belongs to the Estate Planning Councils of New York City and Westchester County (2015-2016 President).

CONTINUING EDUCATION:  Based upon our interpretation of the New York State Board for Public Accountancy regulations, this event will qualify for one (1) CPE credit in Advisory Services.  Our New York State CPE Sponsor license number is 000783.
